SENIOR LEAGUE AND MAJORS CHANGES POSSIBLY FOR 2019
There are going to be a few changes this season due to a drop in registrations for our senior league, as well as in the major league. We only have enough senior league players to form 1 possibly 2 teams, so we are going to be joining another area recreation league called North Columbus Sports (NCS) softball league. Our Dublin teams will still be made up of our own Dublin players. The NCS is made up of teams from north Columbus & 1 team from Westerville. As of now, games will be played at Avery, Ridgeview Middle School (4241 Rudy Rd) & a field in the Westerville area. (For some Dublin families, the Ridgeview Middle School fields may be closer than Avery.) There will be 12 regular season league games, followed by a tournament. In addition, we plan to add some extra non-league games to be played between the 2 Dublin teams. There will be a few rule variations, but none of which are much different than DYAs current rules. Also, 7th graders are going to play an additional season in the major league (unless they already had a sister playing in the senior league.) This will help the major league form teams as well.

2019 Mannino’s Grand Slam Clinics for April and May!
Mannino’s Grand Slam offers GREATLY reduced clinics just for DYA Softball participants. View Informational Flyer DYA SB CLINIC.pdf
TO REGISTER go to www.gradslaminfo.com
Contract Mannino’s Grand Slam at 614-717-9934 or email email@example.com with questions.
These clinics will be a great opportunity for both beginning and experienced players to learn new skills and work on perfecting their fundamentals and mechanics. Each girl will be able to take the skills learned here to practice, both with their team and at home.
Please note the NEW DYA Mannino’s Clinics for 2019:
Hitting Clinic specifically for 1st and 2nd grade softball players (or girls who have played 1 season). This is a great opportunity for girls new to softball. They will learn the mechanics of a swing and the proper way to hit for fastpitch softball (which is very different than baseball!). Parents are encouraged to observe, as the instructors use the session to give the girls great advice.
Pitching Clinics focused on girl’s first learning to pitch (2nd and 3rd graders, 4th new to pitching are also welcome). If your daughter is interested in learning pitching, these sessions will focus on the basics and help them get a feel for pitching mechanics. Please note, all girls signed up for pitching clinics need to bring a parent who functions as the catcher – so parents, make sure to bring your glove!
All sessions will be held at Mannino’s Grand Slam. Choose your option and times at registration.
Melissa Wright-Rodgers and Maggie McMahon-Cremanes will be leading the Pitching Clinics for DYA Rec softball players. Both went on to very successful careers in High School earning All-State honors and College earning All-American honors to mention a few. Both have spent years of working with our very own Ron Marstiller and Les Randolph.
Alyssa Kelley, GLIAC Player of the Year, will be instructing the Hitting. Coach Kelley went on to Coach College ball before landing as the Head SB Coach @ Jerome HS.
Mannino’s/DYA On-field Offensive and Defensive Skills Clinic with Coach Karen Linder
Karen Linder, four time MAC Coach of the Year, has created a legacy of athletic and academic excellence throughout her 33 year career as a head college softball coach. Coach Linder spent 19 years as the head coach at Division I Kent State University where she accumulated the second most victories of any MAC softball coach in history and the most for the Golden Flashes.
Learn the fundamental skill of the game from those who coached and played at the highest level. Parents and coaches are encouraged to participate as well.
